does anyone know any sanction that allows metal cleats below 14u?

while waiting in between games this saturday, several girls from another team walk by, I hear the distintive sound of meal cleats. Our site was only having 12 and 10u games. thought metal cleats were only allowed for 14u and up.

then I really thought about, and besides being against rules in 12u (I think, looking for confirmation), what parent buys their 12u player metal cleats (girls was pretty tall for 12u), made me wonder if someone had brought a ringer in?

In Oklahoma middle school can wear metal but 12u cannot. So if 6th graders are playing middle school softball that may be what you are seeing

I am not aware of any sanction that allows them below 14u. Generally it is a warning and then an ejection.

In Illinois, IESA (middle school ball) does NOT allow them. However you can have 14u players who are coming off 14u season and may have them, so it is a point of emphasis early in the season. Don’t think I have ever had anybody wearing them though.
