The president of our Association wants to hold National Qualifiers one year ahead of time in order to give qualifying teams more time to raise money to attend Nationals. Example: playing a NQ in 2011 for a 2012 Nationals. This president insists that "last year players" in 2011 should be able to take part in these NQ even though they will be too old to compete at the 2012 National they are trying to qualify their team for. Would this even be legal in any National Organization?

Uh, no.

This one is easy. Just because you participate in a fundraiser does not mean you personally will reap any direct benefit. If you teach kids that they should only do service to benefit themselves and not to benefit those who come after them, then you're failing as parents and community leaders. If a team plans to compete in an event, then the team is responsible for showing up with a roster of eligible players.

Stick to you guns and hopefully your organization's president will come to realize what a stupid idea that is.
