beyond the fences
CoachKevin-you are so right about the variables. We played a game last week that we were ahead
1-0 after 5 and 3-0 after 6. We let runners on at 2nd/3rd on couple of missed opportunities with one out.
I called time, settled down the IF, told them the runs didn't matter as much as outs.
I was willing to concede one run for an out. As it turned out, batter hit a soft liner to SS, she caught it and
doubled up the runner taking too aggressive of a lead at 3B. My assistant questioned the strategy, I went
with my gut, as my pitcher was still throwing very strong. She throws very well in pressure situations and
I put my trust in her.

Last night at practice, they told me they all wanted to play for the shutout instead of just the 'W'. They earned it,
who wants to argue with a bunch of 13yo girls
