Agreed! Lighter bat is a band-aid for most girls' poor swings.
If she has an efficient swing, she will be able to hit with however long or heavy a bat that she wants. She needs to optimize her swing with the best tool (bat) possible. Not too light, not too heavy, not too short, not too long. But it should be the longest, heaviest bat that she can control with bat-speed.
Longer bat means more leverage on the ball. Heavier bat means more mass through the ball. Tin cans are for swings that need help.
DD's hitting coach has a very heavy baseball bat that he has her use for the first dozen or so swings to emphasize hand path, she is notorious for casting to the outside half of plate.
