Rec ball scenario,

Bases are loaded ball is hit in the air toward F6. Umpire calls infield fly. F6 non-intenionally drops the ball and runners try to advance. F6 picks up the ball and throws to F2. Question, once the infield fly is called is the force taken off and F2 must tag the runner at home or is the force still on?

Thanks

A quick addition to Sweet Lou's comment: If caught then yes the runner must tag up, but if dropped the runners may proceed without tag ups.

Either way the runners must be tagged as the force is gone.

A small correction to the quick addition to Sweet Lou's comment.. in the event of a live ball appeal (i.e if the ball was caught and the runners had left too soon) the runner need not be tagged. The base which was left too soon could also be tagged or touched while holding the ball. While this looks and feels like a force play, it is not.
