My 3 pitchers are full time... they rotate circle time evenly... the 1reserve girl plays for a showcase team in Indianapolis... if shes available, she'll travel with us
So the pitchers, pitch only? No rotation in the field positions?

I carry 10 and yes it has bit me in the rear a few times. Overall I like it, 9 in field pitcher for next game resting and I bat all 10. One can't make it I call PU player. 2 cant make I might PU 2 player. 3 can't make it, forget it and go to nxt tourny. Works for us.
The pitchers also will play fielding positions... makes it hard sometimes because my best 1st baseman is my dd who is also our best pitcher and my second best pitcher is an awesome ss, but my dd is too slow to play middle infield! And the third pitcher plays mostly 2nd so it gets hard to juggle sometimes. When we practice, we do alot of station drills that are usually position specific, and every girl will do every station... My goal is for them to be as versatile as possible (true utility player). But in games they know who goes where for the most part depending on who is pitching.
When my DD played in 14U 2008-2009 they carried 18 girls!! We loved that team and they won a lot of games. DD was 1 of 4 pitchers, we played a very heavy schedule but no pitcher was overused. From the looks of their website nothing has changed and the coach still carries a large roster...OC BatBusters McNeeThis is an interesting discussion.
I have been reading on another forum where the older showcase teams are carrying 15 and saying you can't get through a major showcase with any less. I read this with great interest as our girls are all 13 (mostly 8th graders) this season and are pondering options for next year.
I know when we faced the Gold Coast Hurricane's 12u team in Myrtle Beach last year they carried 15 or 16 players and 5 were pitchers. I thought that looked like a parent nightmare and wondered how that worked for them.
With that said, how do you feel about the extremely successful southern and west coast clubs that carry 20+ on their rosters? DD played a Texas team with at least 25 girls in Colorado last summer, their lineup/sub card was the length of a Russian novel (though our 11 still beat them). We saw some other teams that couldn't fit in the dugout. I guess if you are on one of these teams your card is all but punched and playing time is not as important.
