Can we also point out... 26oz?!?! What planet is this on? The moon? Most players swing 34" bats that are, at a maximum drop, -3. There might be a few players swinging 33" bats. My DD's wood baseball bat is pro quality with a mid level end load. 33" and it's a -2.
Planet earth.
Read the original post where I said...
"A heavy bat only weighs 26oz in women's fast pitch. Grown men swing 26-30 oz bats in slow pitch and pro baseball. MOI aside.... Only a portion of the weight is in the barrel."
SO I'm off by 1oz for the wood bat....This ok with you?

I don‘t mean this to sound rude but can someone come out and say what they mean here? DD hits pretty well with a 25 oz bat. I have always thought she might be better with a -10 bat but 1) she struggled to adjust for longer than it was worth. 2) when she adjusted she pretty much hit the same way.

I personally do not see the advantage of heavier bats. Yet I buy them because that’s what she likes.

The bat weighs 26 oz or so, How much muscle does it take?
Its a complex answer

Aside from the technical answer...

It takes more muscles just to hold the weight of our skeletal system than it does a 26oz. Bat.

Now what...

Do :alien: like :coffee: ?

Fastpitch bats aren't drop -2, typically -8 to -12, right?

There's a gif that's gone around in the past with a guy pounding a tire against a wall -- always thought it was a good look at how the body organizes for power vs. swinging arms-only. Maybe someone has it handy....

Yep and besides power, ability to adjust, being dynamic, direction etc... all much more effective when supported and powered by the body

Our bodies efficiently organize power all the time.
Hitting is learning to direct it!

All other things being equal, if you swing a 34 -8 at 70mph, and swing a 34 -10 at 70mph, you will hit the ball harder with the 34 -8. Physics wise, I don't know what amount of speed overcomes the amount of kinetic energy behind a heavier bat. However, my DD tried a 34 -10 a year ago, on the field, with our usual front toss. She could swing the -10 at about 3mph faster. However, she'd consistently hit the ball about 30 feet further with her 34 -8. At that point, she never picked up a "light" bat again.

Here's what you posted:
Barry Bonds talks incessantly about his top hand.
All the posts from many here talking about hands and hitting down.
Trout, ARod, Yelich, etc... all talk about hit down, not much talk about the legs or core. Tewksbary talks about TTB. Mankin, THT and BHT, Miggy and palm up. Who's talking about the core and legs?
The bat weighs 26 oz or so, forget a 8 year old. Grown men swinging 26oz 33 inch bats in mlb. How much muscle does it take?
Chop chop or TTB both capable of creating the bat speeds necessary.
If the barrel can enter the zone with early bat speed.....we've all seen the blur as the barrel accelerates rearward.
Why not?
How's that for a hidden agenda? Next we talk about area 51.

I'm not up for arguing, but I was responding to that post. I don't see anywhere there where you said that. But if that's what you were inferring, then that's fine.
