EvoShield and other thumb guards?

I was looking at getting a thumb guard for the upcoming season. I'll be catching, and I'm still really new to it, but the past few weeks my thumb has been bent back in my glove really badly. It's actually swollen right now and I had to ace wrap it earlier for school because it hurt so bad. Really just the past two weeks sucked- using a glove with no padding one week and a glove that wasn't broken in the other- but I really don't want to keep dealing with this.

I looked up some and evoshield seems pretty popular, has anyone used them? I'm kind of wary about it because it seems like once you mold it you can't go back, and for the price that is a scary thought. I can't find anything else except some 60 dollar thing that doesn't look very protective..

my thumb this morning. Almost 4 times the size of the knuckle on the other hand.

Have you had your thumb looked at by a Dr or even the school nurse?

Jay Weaver had a good blog post a few months back on how glove position can lead to thumb injuries. It's not always about the padding in the glove.
