DD's High School had a goal of raising funds to install dugouts at their field. Our high school field is nice but for some reason they never installed dugouts. We tried to petition to add them for years to no avail. Good news is that over the last few months the girls have raised an amount much greater than we expected. Now we are looking at some options to try to have them installed prior to to the start of our season in late March. We priced out a few "pre-built" options but they seem very expensive for what we are looking for. Over $20K. Shipping is expensive. We want to stay away from wood due to the maintenance. Looking for something about 30' x10". Nothing too fancy but something strong enough to withstand the weather in the Northeast.
Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Do those come with earplugs for the coaches? :)

But that is also the best option for blocking wind and elements you'll be playing in for 1/2 (or more) of your season.

If it’s a full enclosure it would be loud for sure but there is the option of just a half wall in the back and sides. Probably would be cheaper too.

This. Our LL built their dugouts this way several years ago and they still look nice.

The dugouts at our high school where I am the AD have a block wall for the back and then chain link for the sides. We also built cubbies into the back wall as well as a separate fenced in area for equipment like rakes, tamps, screens, etc.

Not length, but width......if you've already got your dimensions set and laid out on paper, go ahead and add another 3' to 5' to the width of the dugout if possible. You'll thank me later!
Amen - If the budget allows by some rubber mats for the floor as well.

Our Varsity dugouts are all block with wooden cubbies for helmets on a side wall, hooks for hanging bags, and are deep enough to sit on top of the bench with separate entrance and exit. Also attached to to the home dugout is a small "locked garage" for outdoor storage of screens, machines, balls, bases, field care equipment, outfield signs, bat racks, scoreboard control, practice aids, and other misc. items.
