We had a team in the Seattle area form last year called the Lady Rippers.

Who thought that up? Ted Bundy?

It was bad on a lot of levels. I was happy to see them fold after one season.

I would add weather phenomenon to the list: Thunder, Hurricane, Lightning, Tornado, etc.

recently played against the "breeze" not a very intimidating name there.

You mean UC Santa Cruz?

I have a friend who went there, and he told me that was their mascot because they are literally everywhere around campus and Santa Cruz in general. He also told me they're not "banana slugs" because the slugs eat bananas. They're banana slugs because they're bright yellow - the color of a banana.

Saw a team at Myrtle Beach tournament - this is their name. I thought more people needed to know this. Do you think the parents say "My daughter is a Dirtbag." Or maybe "We're a part of the Dirtbag organization."

It could be worse. There's a team in So Cal called the Knuckleheads. Can't think that would inspire anyone either.

I actually think it's kind of cool. When I think of a dirtbag. I think of a player who"s constantly going a hundred miles an hour hustling, running hard, sliding when it calls for it and diving to make catches. When the game is over you know that this "dirtbag" gave it his or her all.
