We asked the PT about it, he wasn't in favor of anything.....but I don't have a lot of faith in him at this point, either. Mostly we've just been doing a lot of extra stretching which makes a difference; On the days she "forgets" the extra stretching she feels tight in the shoulder. Have a line on a sports conditioning guy here that we're going to try and work with some after the layoff.

If she hadn't been released to play, she wouldn't be.

What kind of stretching does she do?

Stretching can increase the laxity of the joint, which is the LAST thing that you want.

Standard dynamics with the team. Then, as needed some more cross-arm stuff on her own until things feel less tight. Normally a quick back-pop (suggested by the PT) and away we go.

Dynamic stretching (aka arm circles and other things to warm up) is one thing and is beneficial.

Static stretching, especially the cross arm stuff, makes me nervous and could be part of the problem.

Does she do the sleeper stretch? Is she a swimmer? Does she do any stretches for the butterfly?
