Runner on 3rd. Fly ball hit to left field. Ball hits left fielder in glove, and pops back up. Runner was on 3rd, and left base after ball hits left fielder in glove and pops out. As ball comes back down, left fielder makes catch, batter out.

The runner was on base when fielder touched ball, but left before catch was secured. Did the runner on 3rd leave early?

Pitcher cut off throw home, and immediately throws to 3rd. In this case, runner on third was ruled safe, run counted.

NO as in absolutely not!
Officially it is from the time of contact, not the catch. If it bounced off of Jose Canseco's head and then he caught it, it would be the same interpretation. No runner can judge how many juggling lessons an player has had.

Yes, time of touch, rule was implemented a while back when outfielders perfected the art of juggling the ball while moving towards the infield so the runner couldn't tag up.

I can go one better. Fly Ball behind first base. First goes back on a dead sprint. Ball glances off her glove and RF running in catches the ball, runners can tag when the ball contacts the first baseman’s globe.
