Going to do a watch party at my home next year with some softball friends. Plan to put all these cliches on a bingo card so we can play WCWS B.S. BINGO!

Did Michelle Smith just say that in the Olympics, the balls and bats aren't as lively? So, do they have limits on bats? I thought that they used the same bats that they used in standard play. Do they use a different cored ball? Anyone???

ASA does have different bat regulations than ISF. I would suspect that WCWS, played at ASA stadium, is using ISF rules. ISF also uses Mizuno softball in official competition. interestingly enough, the Mizuno softball is not available in the American market. That's right, Mizuno usa doesn't sell the ball here.

Ok, so I know I'm new to this hitting stuff. Mendoza just said of Lowery's fastball that you have to wait and let the ball travel. What? You want to let an off speed pitch travel. For a 73 mph pitch, you might want to get the barrel started.

I think she was talking about letting the outside pitch travel a little deeper and hit opposite field instead of being early and pulling an outside pitch. I know various hitting coaches DD has had over the years talk about hitting the inside pitch when the ball is just in front of home plate and for the outside pitch let it travel a little deeper towards the back of plate.

Now when someone is throwing 73mph, you are probably happy making solid contact anywhere near the plate?
