Spoke to a State UIC and HE considered the bat altered once the coins were put on and used. It was knowingly used in a way not intended by the manufacturer when the bat was approved. But he also said he wasnt sure others would have his same opinion.

"The bat you have described to me is considered an altered bat. An altered bat is an approved softball bat that has been altered from the specifications of the manufacturer. Examples of altering are rolling, shaving, repainting, or weighting, etc"

But he also did say, like I did, that you cannot prove any of this. Unless the person walks up to you with the bat and tells you what they did, nobody will ever know. So take it for what it is, please dont turn this into a altering thread, this was not meant as such. I actually only brought this up as a joke because I never saw anybody tape coins to a bat...haha.

So I guess it still depends who you run into and how they interpret the rules.
