Ramping up slowly if she hasn’t thrown for several weeks is the smart thing to do.
This is super important. DD goes from a six-week shutdown from Thanksgiving to New Years to slowly increasing her workload in January and February. Heading into March and HS tryouts, she’s pitching three times a week, somewhere around 150 pitches per session. That should match up well with a school schedule workload.
Tournaments present a different challenge, with so many innings crammed into just two or three days. It’s tough to prepare for that level of intensity, but the combination of strength, endurance, and good mechanics are the best you can rely on.
