A change of direction. Simple.

I like the hands closer to the plate, and then bringing them in toward the body.

Sosa did this as well.

For the most part I believe the hands are being moved back instead of the hitter moving the hands back. Don't mind the hands being hidden behind the hitter(back from the plate) a little as long as the hitter has good posture providing space for the hands to do what they need to. JMHO

I don't know how anyone hits anything with so much unnecessary bat motion prior to the actual swing.

Oh but there is space for the hands to work, regardless where you start the hands, they are always lined up to the front shoulder and over the back foot. The shoulders are angled, not the hands.

As long as the bat is where it needs to be at launch it doesn’t matter. You see this sort of thing all the time in MLB.Much less so in FP because it seems that girls get overcoached more than boys or at the very least actually listen to the person trying to overcoach them....😉

If the hitter does not have good posture then the hands will cast, the shoulders will be in the way...creating a long swing and a swing around instead of through

I know, and you're right about what happens in MLB. That's why those swings sometimes aren't the best examples of what to do. I'm not sure what you mean about FP being "overcoached" regarding bat movement. It is sound mechanics to quiet the bat before launch, and even before the pitch. Recently, there was a video posted that showed Lauren Chamberlain mentioning this exact thing.

I mean a lot of coaches "coach" athletic movement and personal style (which is all what you are talking about is) out of young girl's swings...
