Never been game used or in a dugout, DD has only taken a few BP cuts with it. How do warranties work on a transferred bat? Isn't it limited to just the original owner?

Negative, no different than if you purchased it as a gift for someone. As long as the manufacturer has the original receipt the warranty is still valid.
