10u catcher needs gear

last season, daughter was only playing rec, but she loves to catch, and DW insisted she have her own gear, mainly because she did not want her sharing a helmet. bought her MacGregor EZ gear, would not do that again. Helmet and chest protector OK, but leg guards are velcro, and would not stay on (they have the over the knee protection, the top strap keeps popping, then the top piece flapping leads to next strap popping. also, could not incorporate knee savers into them (made strap popping much worse). so for last year she used the team leg guards. team also had a catchir's mitt, so she did not have her own.

this year, she is playing travel ball, and catcher is expected to provide all their own gear. need to buy a set of leg guards for her, looking to keep reasonable.

looking for opinoions or other suggestions

also need an opinion on a good youth softball catcher's mitt, as she will need one of these as well. want to get this soon to start breaking it in. what size is reccommended for a 10 year old player, uses a 12 inch glove currently, looking at the Mizuno Prospect GXC112 Youth Catcher's Mitt as a likely candidate, 31.5 inches.

My DD had an Easton youth set that we bought as a set at Walmart for cheap on clearance. Served the purpose well for a couple of years at that age. No experience with Rawlings gear. Another idea.....check craigslist in your area. You should be able to find some used equipment for reasonable.

DD1 has the Easton Mako shin guards and loves them. Has same over the knee protection design. Never seem to twist on her. One year of hard travel ball on them and still holding up great.

Softball.com has youth on clearance for $30 in red, navy, and royal. If those colors work I would jump all over it.
