My DD has never played in an indoor softball game. How does it work if the ball hits the ceiling? I would assume it's a dead ball and/or called foul but want to figure this out before hand.

Look up the venue that she is playing in. Some times they have their dead ball and other rules posted on line. I have seen some indoor places that have a "line" of flags, that if the ball hits the roof in front of the line it is dead ball. If the ball hits behind the line, it is in play.

Other places we have been like the dome in Pekin, Illinois the roof was high enough that it didn't come into play much that I can remember, but I believe it was always treated as a dead ball.

Little different all the time, suprised how little it comes to play.

They all have different rules, you need to look on facility's or hostin teams website.

Rules? there are no rules.

We've had all kinds of rules. One dome if it hit the roof in fair territory it was a live ball and if caught would be an out. Most have it as an automatic foul/dead ball no matter where it hits. Because time is sometimes critical in these domes, they will require the C to always get a courtesy runner, also if there are 2 outs, P is required to have a courtesy runner as well.

Dd played her first last weekend. They had nets all around. You can catch off the net for a out. Also if you hit so high
up on a net you get a double or what not. I think it depends on the size of the field. Rules may change place to place.

The courtesy runner thing sucks because my DD is one of the fastest on the team.

Luckily it isn't all indoor tourneys, just citing examples of different rules we have had. It definitely did suck since my DD was the fastest as well. Our coach at the time realized how much of a hit that was and played our other C so my DD could run the bases.
