not sure the best search terms to use for working on doing better about pulling the ball, if you have any tips.

My DD is 10 as well. To get her in the proper form i'd stop her at intervals in her pitching motion. 12 was show me the ball 9 was show the sky the ball, 6 was show the dugout the ball. Worked pretty well without being too technical. When i get technical with my DD her eyes glaze over.

Slapping does nothing for a pitcher except allow a hitter to time their pitches.

That would be making an implicit assumption that all their pitches are of the same velocity, which isn't the case, at least not with good pitchers. Given this, is a leg slap necessarily good or bad? No. Is leg slapping an absolute? Of course not.

Yes, thanks! DD glazes over too. She tells me "I like to PLAY softball. I don't like to talk about softball." Lol. She's definitely more of a doer. I think this will work really well with her.

Count me as another who strongly advocates for adducting/pulling the arms in to add power to the release. If it results in a glove slap that hurts, rotate the glove or adjust the location of contact. Timing a pitch with glove slap is a poor timing mechanism if we are teaching our pitchers how to pitch.

The slap is pretty minor, that's why I haven't worried too much about it. No bruising or anything. We may try to break her of it, I just feel like it's minor compared to things like having the ball in the correct position. Yes?

Finch was definitely a glove slapper during games:

My suggestion is to grab the radar and gun a few pitches using adduction and some not. I'm certain you will find that pulling down together results in a consistent boost in power. Ueno, Pauly, Finch and Osterman are a handful who take advantage of this mechanic. Don't take my word for it--try it with a gun and see for yourself.

All these pitchers use adduction.

I'm not sure what you are seeing in the videos, but other than Rickets, everyone is either slapping the leg or missing the leg by an inch or so.

Jenny Finch--Jenny pitches different in a game than in her promo videos. Always look at her game videos as to how she really pitches. She slaps the inside of her left leg. https://youtu.be/zoYUsDK4zTw

Monica Abbott-- Lightly touches inside of leg after release. https://youtu.be/vmiG4ji3onQ

Angela Tincher -- brings glove down very hard to the outside of her left leg.

Keilani Ricketts -- She brings her elbow down very hard into her stomach.

Danielle Lawry-- Brings her glove very hard near her leg. It looks like she doesn't hit her leg, but the glove is very, very close to her leg. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icqLbe4PERI&t=50s

You forgot Cat Osterman and Yukiko Ueno as pitchers who slap their glove.

Snotbubbles - classic fallacy about pitching that batters can time the pitch based on hearing the glove slap. If fact if you watch some of the slo-motion videos of glove slap pitchers, the ball has left the hand BEFORE the glove actually hits the thigh. I hope batters aren't waiting to start their swing until they hear the slap because it will be too late to catch up to the pitch. One hitting expert (Howard Carrier)) at DFP talked about "dancing with the pitcher" (i.e. loading) as the pitcher goes into her wind-up.
