Doug,
I get we are all limited by our inherent biases. But that is where data comes in. And certainly with tech/apps, it is easier than ever to make data to work for you. That does not discount the reliability of eyeballs for intangibles but certain helps curb our natural tendencies for confirmation bias.
And if the HE pitcher throws same speed, same ball/strike ratio etc, then I am for having her equal opportunity.
Kinda curious is that HS coach a teacher? I would hope a teacher would be open to "learning" new things!
PS DD is still working on juicing her drive. She is better on out vs up, still trying to get the explosiveness. Getting ready to go with dog training collar! LOL

Switched my DD over to IR during 14u and we are first year 16u and I still think she's got some perfecting to do. Speed and accuracy is up and had a lot of positive comments during her winter college camps that we are definitely on the right track.

I think you are fortunate that you identified IR as the way to go and have a younger daughter. I didn't learn about IR until early 14u and what a waste of time and money that was.

Take it slow, read all the sticky's and it will come together. Have any issues just post here on DFP and you will get a lot of good constructive comments. These members were patient with me when I wanted to convert from HE to IR.

Good luck!

Monica, Cat, Jennie, Angela, Amanda, etc... never heard of I/R... and they did just fine.

The real issue... is that those kids figured it out for themselves. Natural athletes that worked really hard... and have an ability to "deeply" practice... over others who don't (have that ability).

Unfortunately... the "others"... well... that's the other 99% of us... and where good coaching can really make a difference. If your daughter is not part of that 1%, and her goals are just as high... it would benefit you both to learn more about I/R and other pitching concepts discussed on this fantastic board.

To me this is the perfect quote. My daughter has been taught bad mechanics, in between mechanics where they teach the right placement of the ball around the circle but still teach palm facing catcher at the end, and she has been taught correct mechanics. I would say that the biggest jump I saw in her was when I told her over one winter to just throw as hard as you can into a mattress after every practice. After that winter the video showed she was just automatically throwing with more of a whipping motion. Is it perfect? No, but that just means more practice. I hate to say it, but the specific things we say don't get adjusted in one practice or one pitch it's over time and with patience. For most of us, including myself, this is the most difficult part.
