1) She has to fix the front side resistance ASAP. Do walkthroughs at normal distance. After she throws the ball, she is not to let her right foot come down until after you return the ball to her. Don't be in a hurry to throw it back to her. She fixes her front side resistance, and she is going to gain 2 or 3 MPH. (Your DD was doing walk throughs 3 years ago to improve her arm strength. At her ability level, distance throwing is not particularly helpful.)

.

Anyone got a video of this drill? Would like to see this drill being done so I can get a better grasp of what is happening in the drill.

As far as the original topic of this thread, I would just like to say good luck in your future with pitching.

This is Amanda doing the walkthrough:

A right hand pitcher would keep her right foot off the ground after she releases the ball. She then waits for the ball to be returned before she lowers her right foot.

Here is why I like the drill:

The pitcher will know whether she did the drill right. She doesn't need a parent to tell her "good" or "bad". The kid will self-correct. The pitcher is in charge, not the parent/coach.

CJ, what I don't think a lot realize is good front side resistance is enhanced by a good drive side action. IOW, if you leave the drive leg behind, it is hard to get good front side resistance. You can see the difference in her back side compared to Amanda's in frames 5, 6, and 7.

knight,

is this also the cause of lifting of the stride foot on/just after pitch release?

It may be a contributing factor along with pushing back hard with the stride leg. I see Osorio do this often, but she throws a lot of rise, low rise (screw-like) and curve balls too.
