HI,
My pitching DD has Spontaneous Sternoclavicular Subluxation.
Spontaneous Sternoclavicular Subluxation | eORIF.
We have taken her to see 2 specialists (physiology and DO) and both dont have much advice, besides tape with K-Tape before pitching. Both tell us nothing serious.
There is no pain and doesn't interfere with her at all. She gets more annoyed with me asking her how it is. Essentially the clavicle pops out when she raises her arm/s and pops back in when her arm moves back down. She can't feel it when pitching because her movement is fast, but when warming up, she can feel it if she directs her attention to it. This is not (seemingly) related to pitching mechanics because it pops in any situation where her arm is raised. Also when doing pushups/pressups, but not pull-ups.
Anyone's DD have this or anyone here know anything more about it..? It is rare...
Thanks

My 15 year old DD has this. She has been to orthopedic sports medicine doctor and he said it was not a big issue at all. Even if it fully dislocates they would not put it back in. He thought it would help open her shoulder and let her increase velocity. We don't tape it at all.

Thanks H&T. Good to know that's a third professional opinion stating it is not an issue. Funny you talk about it increasing velocity - my DD throws very hard and was wondering if the spontaneous in/out was giving her extra whip. Worst case scenario, it is a cool party trick...
We tape it on Friday and it covers the weekend. She did report that it was less pronounced with tape. BTW, this started years ago, so it is not new.
Cheers
