A Drill: TICK.....TICK......BOOM!
tumblr_pevaf3KGg61usf292o1_400.gif

so in this drill they start from loaded position and then ... Boom? I am only asking because.. what if a hitter loaded slow and early to this position in their game swing, and then boom(TTB). would that be a bad thing?

To me no, that would be a good thing. I would want this hitters rear foot pointed straighter. I believe the purpose of the drill was. The TICK, TICK notice the hands 'beginning' the TTB from the Command Drill position/loaded position.

Thanks, my DD has been working on something very similar to this. I've been discussing to you in another thread about toning down her rear foot skipping forward. I'm finding working on a drill similar to this has toned down the back foot skipping forward. She's also been able to wait on the pitch longer, making more solid contact, and getting to pitches she had trouble with before. For example, she's playing on a new team this year. Basically two head coaches got together and made an all star team. Last night at tryouts she faced the best pitcher of her age in the province. Everybody at tryouts had trouble hitting this girl.. no solid hits and a lot of whiffs. My DD stepped up and whiffed on the first pitch.. seemed to be out in front. The next pitch, rocket through the infield (Ghost made that shot gun sound), fielders didn't even react. Next pitch line drive slicing opp field. She continued on hitting that pitcher with little difficulty. It seems like toning down that back foot skipping action is good for her... Boom from the loaded position is very effective for my DD. I like this drill, really simplifies the swing IMO. Also 5 frames posted a good drill that's helped my DD a ton. I'll go back and find in case others are interested.

Ball drill (or whatever it's called) at 1 minute mark. The whole video is helpful, but the ball drill really helped my DD feel it in a practical way

I think she is using the hands instead of the forearms to TTB. The hands take the barrel away from the body to soon. The lowerbody hips/torso don't get involved until after the hands have moved the barrel.

I don't aspect you to give an answer.

Question Shawn.. how can you look at a video like this and come to a conclusion that this person is using her hands, not her forearms to TTB?

Hitter does neither...she slots her rear elbow to TTB. Kind of like you like, I think.

You can see and feel this hitter 'loading' up her rear elbow to begin her slotting/swing.^^^^^^^
The hands take the barrel away from the body to soon.
Just because the tee is set up for a pitch down the middle. How do you know the hitter isn't set up for an outside pitch. There is no batters box.
The lowerbody hips/torso don't get involved until after the hands have moved the barrel.
The lower body 'get involved' as soon as the elbow TTB. The problems is the rear leg is pointed back towards the catcher. So, this hitter 'bleeds the corner' from the get go.
I've looked at allot of video.
And that means what exactly......You can only see what YOU can see.
Aren't you glad I answered now.....Again JMHO.
