Here's a different swing to compare to the others... This top one is older.

Here's little comparison I put together:

In these clips the old swing looks like he finishes shoulder rotation and the hands still have to move some distance. In the new clip it looks like he is still pulling back at the front shoulder at contact.

So I would say the shoulder rotation is different between the two clips. One the shoulders over rotate or are out of sync with the swing. In the second/new swing the shoulder don't turn as early and are synced with the swing.

The difference in the front leg is obvious. Would someone else smarter than me break down the other differences?

Here are the 4 frames that stand out in my mind...

You could argue the sync of the videos or misssing frames or whatever...I'll simply tell you that I did nothing to alter the video that RDB posted and saw nothing in the gif that would lead me to believe he did anything to modify the gif to push an agenda...

What role does pitch location have to do with where those hands go? The one is an inside pitch. For the second one, it appears that he looks up the middle. Could that ball have been middle out? Does it matter?

His old swing finishes flatter indicating more arm pull across the body while the new swing shows more lead arm jut indicative of more focus on turning the barrel. Really not trying to cause fights or arguments, but those who do not know. Judge had worked directly with Teacherman.

Here are two articles about it: Article 1, article 2

I would recommend to not waste time getting into the micro-details of what's different. In my experience, a fundamental change to turning the barrel while maintaining a continuously coiled rear hip results in major mechanical improvements that are very visible on the surface. It is easy to get caught up comparing side by side images to capture and itemize these changes, but the reality is there was an under-the-hood change in how Judge is executing. The visual ques being discussed are the results of the change, not the catalyst for it.

Rich graciously publicized those under-the-hood items in this video (link).

jryan15, I'll ask you then, would the swings look differently if one is middle out and the other inside black?
