12 at bats is a very small sample size and, don't know if this is the case or not, but I have seen many teams where the pitchers and hitters with the best stats aren't the best pitchers and hitters - they instead are the beneficiaries of performing v the weaker opponents.

Regardless, make the most of the opportunities you get and strive to hit the ball hard!

She's new on the team this year, correct? Sometimes it's hard to break in to a team that has established players. Even if your DD has a better batting average or better pitching stats it's sometimes hard for coaches to take playing time away from someone who has proven themselves in previous seasons.
Does she play any other positions other than pitching? Are there a lot of other pitchers? There are so many factors that come in to play for coaching decisions and every coach is different, some want the strongest 9 fielders, some want the strongest 9 batters, some go with a combination of them all.
Has she asked the coach if there is anything she can do to get more playing time? if so, what has the coach said? If not that is a good first step

Very good points. I was using the stats to show that DD is capable of hitting, even if not a pure power hitter. If she was batting more and her stats were dropping, then I would agree with the coach not having her in the batting lineup. Being a parent, it is hard to see your daughter work so hard but not given the chance. I am asking because I just don't know....Also being the parent, I can be a bit partial.

Yes, she is the only new player on the team. A lot of talented JV girls from last year is still playing JV this year.
She also plays 2nd and outfield.

The team has 6 pitchers on varsity and 3 on jv.

Another case scenario:
This girl is a little over .400. She is the fastest girl on the team. She always bat 8th in the lineup. Another non home run hitter.

We'd need to look at all the stats, and even then, we don't know how the players have produced historically, and we don't know what things look like in practice.

As far as hitting .400, if she never walks or gets an extra-base hit, and she's on a really good team where everybody is hitting near .400, or a team with a lot of returning players who've proven to be more productive than the .400 hitter historically, then batting 8th might be fine.

Also, you say that it's hard watching your kid work so hard and not getting a chance to play. Well, she does have 12 at-bats, so she's getting to play. She's just not starting, right? Also, are the 9 who are starting, are they not working hard too?

Another issue is that if she's the only player from last year's JV to make varsity, then it sounds like virtually the entire varsity returned. Perhaps those players are proven. It can be jolting to team chemistry to insert the newcomer unless the newcomer is clearly better.

And finally, 6-for-12 is a nice run. I don't mean to minimize that. Wish my DD would take off on a 6-for-12 run.

keep working hard and keep executing. do your job. sounds like she's new to a team of veterans. hard to break in so its good she is getting time and proving herself. don't worry about them, just worry about you.
the "keep working" advice is important because in HS both of my DDs typically had better Batting Avg s in the first half of the season. don't know why. maybe they got too comfortable?

one important thing to keep in mind, coaches will often put tablesetters at the bottom of the order so that there isn't a hole there. other team is expecting an easy out so the pitches you get may not be her best. make the most of it!

Depends on the frequency. Home runs are better than singles or doubles. A Homer is about 3 times as valuable as a single and twice as valuable as a double. But a single is a lot better than an out:).
