My 12u dd is going through the slump of her life, can't seem to hit a lick lately. I think part of this is due to the fact that this is the first travel team she's been on where she's been the #1 pitcher and while she's developed nicely in that regard the extra time in the circle and with her pitching coach has left us with a lot less time to work with her hitting coach (we just can't seem to sync up with his schedule).

The other thing I realize is that with all the time I've spent watching her pitching lessons I've learned enough to coach her on pitching during periods where her pc is unavailable but I still don't know squat about hitting. I mean I've been around the game long enough to know what's taught but what I try to coach her to do doesn't seem to be working, including just keeping my mouth shut which is where I'm at now.

I was watching a MLB game on tv recently when a seldom used utility player got a nice hit to the left-center gap. I can't remember who the player was but the commentator remarked on how tough it is to only play occasionally and still be productive and believed the reason this player could be is because he kept it simple and didn't have a lot of moving parts to his swing. It occurred to me then that this was the approach I need to start taking w/dd but I still don't know where to start. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
