JCV-22 and a tan and black 12” custom that’s modeled exactly after Anna’s first custom. Both of these came from Casedawg 2 or 3 years ago (?). Both of these belonged to a younger girl that her and her family goes to my church, I got them in touch with Casey to buy them originally.

This is a mitt that I talked about here that kicked my butt trying to break-in! This girl has decided to stop playing which is a shame, she’s extremely talented! The HS HC actually bought them both after the mom contacted me about both gloves, we have two different girls who need exactly these two gloves, worked out great! The JCV-22 is in excellent shape, just gave it two light wipe downs with Lexol. Hard to put a price on a mitt of this quality, and in this great of shape.........that’s game ready!!

Now the 12” fielders glove.....different story! In nowhere near as good a shape as the mitt! The HC bought them and brought them straight to me, I’m running very low on lace but did have one long piece of thick 1/4” black, within 3 minutes of me having them I had already cut the fingertip / web spiral lace out of the tan glove. This tan glove was bone dry, no it was hot dust dry! It got three rounds of conditioner, the first two it sucked up like a sponge! Even though it was dry, it was very clean, just thirsty.

These two are going to remain team gloves, especially the mitt, and they’re going to really help the two girls we had in mind for them! I feel I’m a lucky guy being an AC coach on this team, this is the kind of thing this HC does all through the year, always putting the girls first!

He’s a great guy who will be the first to say he’s not the greatest coach out there, he relies on me for a lot of softball specific decisions.........but this guy is a great manager of people! Not sure if that makes a lot of sense, but we work really well together!

TOTALLY makes sense. Coaching a team is a three legged stool, imho.

Manager- A people manager someone who can work with all the personalities of team and get the most out of the group
Technician- teaches the technique/skills of the game think pitching coach, hitting coach, infield/of coach, catchers coach etc.
Chess Master- strategist for lineups, positioning, play calling

Often you'll find "coaches" that are very strong in one...maybe two areas and are lacking in the third. Rarely do you find someone who's incredibly strong in all three. That's been our experience. As an example more often it's a coach who's a great teacher and strategist but HORRIBLE people skills. Now when you get complimentary pieces to the coaching puzzle you things can work out really well. That takes some humility and self analysis of each coaching team member.

It sounds like you have a great MANAGER who is a knowledgeable technician and strategist but knows those are not his strongest areas so he relies on those who are. That's a recipe for a great season and experience for everyone.

I know this is a glove thread....but "not sure if that makes sense" comment really resonated...it DOES make sense.

Enjoy the season!

I do want to clarify something about our HC, he’s definitely not softball illiterate, this guy is a mountain of a man who traveled around in the home run derby circuits, he’s managed and player-managed several World Series Championship teams in slow pitch, he’s absolutely a ball guy! BUT, girls fastpitch is just something a little different for him, but he’s catching on real quick, our State Championship last year really helped!.
