My 2 cents... dont put any oil on the glove. Oil attracts dirt. Oil adds weight. If the glove gets dry put a little bit of lanolin on it. Only lanolin.
The heal is the most important part of the glove. The pocket will form mostly by its self but the heal needs to be perfect for a perfect pocket. Work the heal evenly. The heal should be rounded and not creased. Play catch. Even if you cant close it and the ball falls out, just play catch. You can beat it a little but dont over do it. When not in use keep a ball in it... always.
Neva eva eva let another person put their hand in your glove. Ever.
I completely agree, the "heel" is the starting point to correctly breaking in a ball glove! As far as a chemical/product/conditioner/oil, never a oil! I also agree on using lanolin, the Surf City Voodoo Blend is made with lanolin and beeswax, two great ingredients for leather. I use Jobsite beeswax now for all of our hand stalls/liners, it's the best natural waterproofer for sealing out harmful sweat. You guys know I use and really like Lexol, it's been my go to conditioner for a while now, Lexol doesn't list their ingredients on their bottles? It just list emulsified tanning oils.....which from what I read and understand is animal brains.
Lexol is still a great conditioner and I'll continue to use it, at least until I run out of the two bottles I still have. I haven't used the new bottle of Voodoo I got in yet but it's coming soon. Here's what it looks like if anyone is interested. It may be my new go to conditioner?
