Although I was hearing something about a camera that streams . Used on the lynkspyder too.

I am NOT a GoPro expert, but my kids have one and when I tried to use it for streaming video it tied up my cell phone because I had to use the Periscope or FaceBook LIVE app on my cell phone to steam it. That meant my GoPro was connected to my cell phone via the WiFi connection and my cell phone was streaming using cellular data. This is not an ideal scenario unless you have unlimited data on your cellular phone plan and do not need to use your phone during the transmission. This is why I opted to use my old cell phone instead - it connected directly to the local WiFi, did not tie up my current cell phone, and did not use any cellular data (local WiFi).

Josh from Lynkspyder was testing this out. He posted pics and video on his Facebook

The initial Mevo by Livestream test results are in. Here's the good and bad:
The Good: Per the streaming app, the live stream was active for 5 and a half hours and only used one charging dot (effectively less than 25%) of the external USB battery. That's more than enough power for a good long weekend; especially with the ability to use multiple batteries or by recharging a battery over night. Better than I would have expected.
The Bad: YouTube only shows that the stream lasted 2 hours and 53 minutes. Not sure exactly what that means at this point. My best guess is that is data loss during low quality network times; which seems like a lot. More testing to be done here.

In any event, testing went well enough to continue on with future field tests for quality and usability. More to come. Stay tuned....

thanks for the all the feedback!

researching on my own on Amazon, think I might give the newest APEMAN a try, it has optical zoom, and is only $80. once I get it (budget dictates waiting till end of month), will come back and post my thoughts on it.

We don't generally recommend GoPro knock-offs (it's nothing personal..we don't want our product knocked off, so it only makes sense). So this isn't a recommendation, rather a notice. At 4:05 PM Pacific today, this camera is supposed to be on a Lightning discount on Amazon:

GoPro has a $50 trade in offer for ANY old video camera, off the price of a new Hero 6. Granted, that wont get you anywhere near $100. LOL

I think your best bet would be a refurbished Hero 4 Silver, which New Egg has for $159. Or maybe a used Hero 4.

I am new here and no little about softball. However, I can comment on this topic. GoPro comes out of a factory in China. That same factory produces several other brands. The only difference in them is the name on the outside and in the software. I bought a Git2 action cam several years ago, took it apart, and all of the internals were GoPro. It was $100 vs $400.

I certainly get where you are coming from. But it is important to note that even the iPhone is made in China. It is up to the manufacturer to ensure that software and hardware are compatible in all environments. I'm sure many of these knock off cameras can shoot video. But for the substantial price difference alone, the engineering and technology has certainly been corner cut. Not saying they can't cut it, but it is a gamble over the long haul, especially when recording entire games, and even more so demanding in the heat.

The engineering and technology in each camera is all the same. When the cost of components are only $30-$35, there is little room to cut corners or cost. The difference is one company charging 1000% over cost and someone charging 50-100%. My advice would be to buy one for about $65 (Akaso my friend has one), find someone with the best GoPro out there. Next time you take video, put both next to each other and compare the videos. You will find either no difference or find that the cheaper one takes better video. GoPro is known for putting low quality lens in the camera for a parts savings of about $3.

I use a Gopro Hero 4 in medium and wide mode which I got a good used deal on, but originally was going to go with the Yi 4K. Seemed decent.
