Another update. After I recorded the game last night, had no corrupt files, and deleted files off the disk using the GoPro camera not the computer. Recorded another away game this evening and still had issue connecting GoPro camera to app on my phone. Eventually it found the camera. I don't recall having this issue over the summer. Anyway looked at the files tonight and all was good.

So the two things that seemed to help in eliminating the corrupt files were 1) stop recording rather than turning off camera and 2) deleting files using the camer and not computer. As for the wifi connection, i was running late to the game and didn't pay attention to the steps I took to connect the camera to the app. At least it was nice weather.

Speaking of weather, what are people doing to protect the camera and external battery from the sun and rain? Maybe I should start another thread.

As for your WiFi issue...this is precicesly the kind of crap that has caused us to stop the use of WiFi in GoPro cameras. All kinds of inconsistancies. My guess is, however, you are an Android users. Seems like others have had more success with the iPhone. With that said, no issues whatsoever with WiFi on the HERO5 Black. Not trying to get you to buy a new camera. But it is the first GoPro I have used where Wifi didn't burn me.

As for protection from rain, take a look at this video I made last year. It works great. As for batteries, I turn them upside down in the pouch so that the ports are protected. Then I put a zip top big over the whole thing and cinch with a rubber band or zip tie. The cinched side is under the bag over the camera, so no way water will get in unless a gully washer (in which case, the game is usually called). Here's the video:

As for sun, I just put a ball cap over my rig, when it is in the hottest part of the summer and day.

Josh,
Thanks for the feedback and video. With respect to the wifi issue, I have an iPhone 7 with the latest GoPro app. Recently I just downloaded and update. Once I get the wifi to connect I have now issues. I mainly use the wifi connection to view camera on my phone to make sure I have best field of view and then hit the record button.

Update

With respect to the my wifi issue, I have recorded several games since my last post on 4/7. Previously when recording with my GoPro hero 4 silver, I would turn it on then go into setup and and connect to the the GoPro app, it would give me this 4 digit code that would not work. Since my last post on 4/7, I have been only turning the wireless setting on the GoPro to "on" and then it has been automatically connecting to the GoPro app. Not sure if there is any logic to this but has been working good and much easier for me to use the app than the viewfinder on the GoPro.
