It looks like my DD is going to have to get glasses. It is pretty surprising because she just finished an All Star Season about 6 weeks ago and batted .860. It was coach pitch. She played a combination kid pitch and coach pitch in the fall season and batted over .700. Since then her batting has went down and she is complaining about headaches. I used an eye chart off the internet and she tested about 20/50.

At any rate my question is would it best to get sports glasses or will normal glasses work under her helmet or fielding facemask? My wife was saying that we could get regular glasses and sports sunglasses but I don't think that will work since she does play some games in the evening and almost always practices in the evening. Money is not really the factor, just trying to get the best results.

We got a prescription put into glasses like these. Regular and sunglass. DD keeps them in her bat bag. I thought she would have issues sliding or pitching but they are secure on her head and also a little rubbery so are comfortable to wear for long periods :). She pitches and wears these under her face mask or helmet for hitting.

Not here.

Then get regular glasses, sports glasses and sport sunglasses. DD worn a mask and sport non-sun glasses. When sun was a factor DD had a problem because there was no way to shield the sun. Sport glasses fit better (more snug) and wont flap around when your DD moves. Fogging will be a issue but, there's products to coat glasses with anti-fog solutions. See skiing for what anti-fog solution to use.
DD started wearing contacts around her freshman year of high school so we didn't have the no sun glasses/glasses issue any more.

My DD just wears her regular glasses and a ripit mask. And a regular pair of prescription sunglasses when the sun is an issue. She HATES contacts so wont wear them at all unless she has to (and she has never had to at softball).

Never been an issue. I always thought it would be, but it never has been. Been 6 years since she started wearing glasses.

Oh and she hated the googles and how they looked and how they fitted under a betting helmet. So we only tried that once. Your mileage may vary.

DD has worn regular glasses with transition lenses under her rip-it mask and helmet for years with no issues. She did have some fogging issues but only when the weather was very humid. Otherwise they were fine. She switched to contacts as a freshmen in high school and has not looked back.

These are pretty cool. It would be nice if I could get it done for less than $400 ($200x2). In the end the expensive bat and hitting lessons are not worth much if she can't see the ball. I have never had to wear glasses a day in my life so I am just trying to get some input.

Walmart has cheap sports goggles even w the added cost due to the strength of my sons Rx they were under $100. Whether you can get a young lady to wear them???

Yes.... Unfortunately....She is already a fashionista at 8 years old. She is a far cry from my son who insists upon wearing his baseball socks every day.

I can't wait for my daughter to be able to wear contacts, she is only 8 years old. Currently she just wears her everyday glasses with a head strap to hold them snug to her head during softball. That first game in the morning can be difficult with high humidity. The glasses get so dirty I don't know how she can even see out them sometimes.
