By the time your kids are 14U or 16U you’ll be saying, “Great, this one is ONLY three hours away!” :)

I'm bummed that for the second year in a row they have canceled the evaluations that take place nearest to Seattle and don't tell you until the next closest one has already taken place.

So I thought that the evals went ok. Could have been better if outside, but they moved them inside due to weather. Couldn't find a seat to save my life (or my back) so I had to stand for 3 hours and try to get a glimpse of my DD doing the drills. Thought that it would have been better if they would have blocked of a section in the dome for the parents to sit/stand. There were bleachers in the dome that looked like they could have moved around and allowed us to sit on. Guess that would/could have caused problems with parents talking to and coaching the kids.

DD had fun although she didn't think she did that good on some of the drills. See what happens.

Registration was a bit difficult. They should have really had the parents register, then exit the building until registration was complete.

It was enlightening when the two NPF pro's talked. Kretchmann said that colleges begin recruiting at 12u, which seems a bit early for my liking. Also, was bothered to hear the girl from UCLA say that the coaches steered them towards certain majors so that they wouldn't be consumed with classwork.

I was able to see the pitchers throw from my vantage point. It was impossible to tell what age group was what though as it appeared they grouped them into smaller groups within age divisions. My DD's catcher was there and caught her for her evaluation and said she threw good, but I couldn't really tell. There were a bunch of 10u pitchers that I see from the tournaments there, so it will be a hard make for DD at that spot. Didn't get to see the hitting or fielding. Interesting experience for DD, she made new friends and will gets some unbiased results but don't think I'll have my DD participate again.

I thought that it was interesting that Kretchmann said when she receives emails from the recruiting services, that she deletes them without looking at them cause it is to much of a PITA to view the videos.

I saw a local girl's parents post on Facebook that she made the usssa elite select team and I know she was not a direct select for the region she tried out for. The announcement show for the region she tried out for isn't until next week. The FAQ's on the website say parents and players are not (in bold) informed about selection prior to the announcement show. How could this be? Anyone have experience?

Yep they email the selected players in advance. They want to ensure that the selected players commit to the trip. If not they move to the next on the list.

There are also some that are locks just based on total number of slots and total number of girls who tried out in the particular region.
