Warning - kind of long..
DD's rec EOS tournament was this weekend. Due to HS tryouts, they had to fit all of the games in on Sat/Sun. There were only 5 teams so it was doable but the same field was also used for all of the 18U games as well so the game times were a little weird.

Our rec team has struggled all season long. We could beat the pretty bad teams but our team made a ton of errors that would cost us games - even when we were playing teams that we should have beat (ie, a team that could not even throw strikes). The teams in the tournament - 3 of the 4 teams we could play we never beat in the regular season. We had played the other team in our association twice and lost both pretty badly. Another team in the tournament was undefeated all season as well. So going into the tournament, I figured we'd be 2 and out.

Due to how the brackets were set up, we played first at 8am on Saturday morning. This was against a team that we had just lost 6-12 to the previous week. Came out Saturday morning fired up and ending up winning 12-5. The next team we had to play at 8:15 pm was the other team in our association who all of the girls are friends with. Lots of trash talk since they are all on group chats together.

Came out and ended up playing one of our best games defensively and won 7-3. Our next game was going to be against the undefeated team on Sunday morning. Struggled to start but held them 2-2 until the late innings when we fell apart in one inning and gave up 5 runs to get behind 2-7. Came back and got close to 5-7. We were home team so we had one inning left to try to come back but ended up losing.

We knew our next game would be against the other team in our association since they slaughtered the other two teams in the loser's bracket. They had been playing longer that day in the heat so we knew we had a chance going into it. They put in their second pitcher who is less consistent than their #1 - ended up getting 5 runs the first inning and played better defensively as well. Ended up winning that one 10-2.

Championship game at 8:15pm - it was close the entire game and we even went up 5-4 but then on 2 outs with 2 on, 0-2 count, girl hits a line drive to RF and scores 2 to go up 6-5. Top of the 7th, we had the tying run on third with no outs but she was a slower runner. Girl hits a grounder towards 3rd, they get the batter at 1st but our runner on 3rd was just too slow and they were able to tag her out at home. 2 outs and our last batter pops up.

Still got second!! Also DD caught the entire tournament (all 5 games) in the 80-90 degree weather and went 3-3 in the last game. So happy with the team and how they played.
