    Outfield fence height adjustable extensions

Thank you for the input. We had debated that some and may still go that direction. We were hoping for something where we could in a sense turn a crank or press a button...lol...and have the fence pop up or go down. But I think your idea is good we would just need to be careful in how we put...

    Outfield fence height adjustable extensions

A couple years back I was doing some research on buying adjustable extensions for the outfield fence on one of our fields. The goal to allow for older age play. As I said a couple of years back and we were not able to do anything with it then. We are in a better position now but I cannot find...

#1 aspect of hitting not being taught

I would suggest some of the mental aspects also. Even when I see many girls working off a tee, they do not put any mental effort into it. Many of them seem to see it as a race, you set the ball there and before you barely have your hand away they hit the ball. No mental effort at all, just...

Lost my 2012 rulebook, so I thought I would ask about an out at 1B

MTR, just for my clarity, so if a player ends up with the ball in not in her hand but captured against her with an arm, say snugly in the crook of her elbow against her chest, generally speaking you would not consider that control? You would not rule control until the player extricates it from...

Lost my 2012 rulebook, so I thought I would ask about an out at 1B

Thanks Comp and ShockCoach. I thought that is what the rule said. Now the umped called the girl safe, but he called her safe because, in his words, more or less, the 1B did not pick up the ball. He used the word possession rather than control. His statement was that until she picked it up...

Lost my 2012 rulebook, so I thought I would ask about an out at 1B

No runners on. Hit to SS, who throws the ball to 1B. Throw is a little off target. 1B knocks it down but does not have it yet....she reaches down and grasps it with her barehand... Now, the ball is on the ground....she has it in her hand.....the runner hits the base. Is she out or safe...

    Throwing hand placement

I think I have seen this mentioned off and on in a couple of threads, but I was not able to find a specific thread to talk about it and maybe it is just not thread-worthy... :-) But basically, there seems to be 2 theories for throwing hand placement, behind the glove or behind your back down...

Trying to find a good starting point

Ok, then I got it thanks. What I was trying to do in a sense was a draw a line that was representative of hip alignment from the start through the finish, so 2 is just the progression from closed when both feet are touching to 3 when they are open. An animated gif with only one line at a time...

Trying to find a good starting point

Ok...my apologies for being ignorant....I think I have it. :-) You are simply saying that you do not fully close the hips....so, and I am an engineer so I get caught up in numbers :-) you are then finishing with something like 30 degrees open or so? except for a curve. Could I envision...

Trying to find a good starting point

Screwball: Ok, help me understand, if you do not mind, the hips staying open. I know you need open as you release, but I am not certain what you mean by staying open. Or maybe I do and how you describe it is confusing me. :-) If you can help me I would appreciate it.

Trying to find a good starting point

We did a couple of classes and they gave us the basics, her and me, although compared to some of the things on here it was all hello elbow, etc. I just want her to be natural in what she is doing, so even when we are just tossing we work on opening and closing the hips, etc. I just tend to...

Trying to find a good starting point

Screwball, would you say that is also a factor in overhand throwing/pitching? I guess I was kind of looking at the two of them in a similar kind of light. That you can throw overhand or underhand, but the accuracy and control came from the wind up....kind of what you are saying I guess to an...

Trying to find a good starting point

So my team this season was not bad....we have made it to the championship game, which got rained out tonight so now we have it on Monday... But the point of the post is how to work with my pitchers post game to get them ready for some fall games as well as next spring. I am just trying to find...

Good portable high frame rate video camera

Not sure where to put this so I chose general. Just wondering if anyone had any recommendations of a sturdy video camera that would allow a high frame rate capture (at least 60FPS). The goal to shoot hitting and pitching for later analysis. Actually, is 60FPS even sufficient to for analysis...

    Incidental contact vs. Obstruction

Thanks Honus. I see how the two bases are in essence a bracket....so you cannot be put put between those two bases period, but once you are outside of that bracket there may be liability but it is really umpire judgement at that point. I think you have cleared it quite well for me.....so now...

    Incidental contact vs. Obstruction

So I see and agree that in the second example the obstruction protects the runner to third. However, and just to see it in writing, once she decides to put herself into further liability by trying for home on the overthrow, there is no going back to third, correct? In other words, there is no...

    Glove knocked off?

I would definitely also say the batter was not out. The glove coming off right as she caught the ball would not have shown control. As others stated, you often have to be there also...but based on the description, that is not an out.

Wanting to win but not really trying...or something like that

Thanks everyone... Looking back, yeah I should have just let it go until after the inning. I was not really interested in trying to get the umpires involved and they rarely call anything an illegal pitch...lol...I had pointed out to one ump in the past that another pitcher started with her...

Wanting to win but not really trying...or something like that

We were using ASA rules and it was illegal. And on one level I really did not care...her pitching needed work in general and my intent when I said it was just to let her dad/coach know that it was an improper move that he needed to work on her with...not looking for anything in the game. I...

    3 foot running lane question

The set up: B1 on 3b and B2 on 2B and 2 outs. B3 hits a slowish ground ball down the 1st base line about 1 to 1.5 feet inside the foul line. F3 comes up to make a play while B3 is running towards the base. As F3 fields the ball inside fair territory B3 collides with her in fair territory...
