    calling pitches

obbay, does she have the freedom to shake off pitches? I'm not at the high school level but my travel ball pitchers have a chance to shake off pitches that I call. I'll then send in another if she shakes that one off, then the catcher will call time and visit the mound. She'll then relay the...

Add another guru to the list-Don Sarno

JJ, I'm waiting to see the photos you talked about. I have a student who doesn't seem to want to put a bend in her arm. She's got potential but not until she learns to "relax" that arm. I'm curious about the slight turn to first going over head (RHP).

    Best exercises for hitting???

Slugger3, the bench is ok. I'd rather have them do the standing over head press. Gets more muscles involved. You wanna get stronger. Search starting strength. I'd start there. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk

    Best exercises for hitting???

Why not just the age old barbell strength training? Dead lift, squat, standing press. Heavy weights low reps. Just get stronger. Now if I only could practice what I preach. :p

My rant against poor HE stlye instruction

I understand that but as a Father of 3 girls the youngest being 16. They stopped trying to please me a long time ago, not so long for the 16 yo but the others, oh yeah! :p Girls smh

My rant against poor HE stlye instruction

I've had a student a couple of months ago attend a Finch camp. They got great batting advice from Bustos. that was the best thing there. Anyhow, I've seen the video, from her dad, where Jenny told my student to push and pull up in an HE finish. I told my student's Dad to her pitch like...

    Need a Pep Talk

Jenny Finch was just in our area a few weeks ago and she most definitely teaches the HE. Messed one of my students up. Had to send her Dad the videos of Jenny pitching, the sports science clip and then the Mike White analysis of her. I'm so glad my student's Dad is open minded.

    Neighbor looking for feedback

I understand falling into the "h" but wouldn't you be able to create more energy by having the stride foot initial the fall with slightly more force? Much like a condensed walk through. I agree we need Java's take. Maybe someone should create a Java "signal" much like boardmember's. :D

    Neighbor looking for feedback

I'm starting to think that this weighting of the back foot falls into the "style" of certain pitchers. I just stood in my office trying it both ways. Got funny looks for that, :p My heel drops every time. So I figured what if I added a slight bend in the waist, then I was able to stay on...

    Neighbor looking for feedback

What do you mean by this? Shouldn't the weight be transferred completely back to the stride foot? I would find it hard not to place the heel with that.

    Should pitchers bat?

Great!! Congrats. Like to hear more of those.

    Should pitchers bat?

I never said pitching was easy but I wouldn't say everyone could hit either. They both need to be worked on. Besides there are a lot more athletes working on hitting than there are working on pitching. Everyone wants to hit but not everyone wants to pitch and everyone who wants to hit doesn't...

    Should pitchers bat?

Let her swing away. She needs to hit. There is enough reasons listed above. Oh riseball. I believe Ted Williams would not concur with your statement. “I think without question the hardest single thing to do in sport is to hit a baseball”.

    mask

It's the cheapest insurance policy I've found yet. If you're in the infield, wear the mask. Two pages here of why you should. Sounds like a unanimous decision to me.

    Pitching High in the Zone

It's possible, JJ. Don't get me wrong I truly believe in brush interference myself. Not doubting that. But I thought I remember him stating about a release zone in one of his videos. I don't know how or if you could even search videos. I am getting older so maybe that has something to do with...

    Pitching High in the Zone

I'm curious, I remember RP (Rick Pauly) stating a release zone. would that also assist in the high and low pitches?
