Popularity of Softball in your state, gaining or losing?

I may be off base but this is my opinion. Were I live softball goes up and down especially at the rec level. Here rec has players that may have not played before playing against tb teams. Every thing is all about winning and parents will put there kid on a team and have her sit vs a team were...

How automatic is sophomore thru senior scholarship renewals?

I may be totally wrong in what I am about to say so do not kill me. I thought I hurd while watching a game on tv something about transfers in softball did not have to sit out a year. There just seems to be teams with alot of transfers. Like I said its just something that I thought I hurd.

How automatic is sophomore thru senior scholarship renewals?

If the scholarships get cut are the players free to look else where? I have not been able to find out how that works. Seems like the old bait and switch could take place.

    Coaches that are Bullies

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/highschool-prep-rally/kentucky-softball-players--coaches-quit-midseason-amid-bullying-allegations-170726931.html?soc_src=copy Thought this was a close to home situation,

    Why bother calling illegal pitches...

I walked up on a local game and the stands was a powder keg waitin to explode. Apparently there had been several illegal pitches called by a certain umpire. Runner on 1st, the base umpire is focused on the pitchers feet. It is obvious what he is watching and not watching. Check swing and the...

    "Houston, we have a problem!"

We have the same recording of Houston we have a problem. I personally find it a humorous quote and so does everyone else in our stands. I am curious did the quote hurt that pitchers feelings or the fact that she gave up runs in the first? These quotes and snipits are played at our local college...

    Softball trending down?

Out league just about always has good numbers. Mainly though the numbers start tapering off about 12. The problem is there are kids that just want to play and have little or no asperations of being a stud player. Thats ok but they get mixed in with teams that have been together or are put...

Transgender law allows CA male to make girls' softball team

I think ther are too many out there that cannot handle things both ways. Letting a girl play boys sports being ok but when its the other way around some parents cry foul. I have seen girls swing and hit better than most boys on baseball teams. The problem I have is that they are playing the...

M's Progress -- Fixing that Leap

My dd has the same problem. I wrapped the drag foot shoe with athletic tape. Not the whole shoe, but around the toe and top of foot. Then I put chalk on it so she could see the drag mark. She was pitching on a pitching mat that had the line down the middle. Helped her see the toe drag. Also took...

    Natural vs Trained Mechanics

That is a pretty cool before and after. Besides the IR discussion, it shows what hard work and dedication can achieve. It also shows that many years of dedication were involved. As far as it being natural I do not know, but one thing is certain. The good lord truly blessed her.

16 year old pitcher -- back injury -- need advice!

I tell everyone that has a dd with back problems to find and read RB's thread on the subject. Lots of good info. and should be a sticky in my opinion.

16 year old pitcher -- back injury -- need advice!

Some say throw like Finch or Ostermans mechanics are the way to go. I like BM's explanations and mechanics, but do not agree totally. Some of the warm up drills that some say are useless my dd does. My dd does throw mid 60's, but its from bits and pieces of different pitchers. Maybe absolutes...

16 year old pitcher -- back injury -- need advice!

I think it is a tragedy that you do not post here more often. Yes there are some that over complicate and some that think that there is only one style. There are no absolutes in pitching that is for sure and I hate to see new posters feel intimidated. I am a visual person and get very little out...

    Unreal:

The ladies on that team are some colleges future players. It is amazing the links people will go, to win a game. I also watched the game and thought the umpire was fair, but missed a call or two. The catcher is what killed the strike zone in my opinion. I have seen more and more of the big teams...

How many of you have cut a girl because of her parents after the Fall season?

I know some people that are the best parents in the world until they sit in the stands at a softball game. For me try outs are just as much about the parents ability as the kids ability. I have zero problem with getting rid of a trouble parents if it benefits the team.

    Lower back injury

I am a believer in the inversion table and the chiropractor. Some times problems with the back flare up when pitching and may no be the actual cause. RB's thread on his dd's back issue is a very good read and should be a useful guide.

    Which Changeup for 6U DD

I would stay away from thinking the way she is taught at 6 will be the way the throws when 16. My dd used to throw a turnover drop and now she throws a peel for example. And yes the flip change is thrown at the college level. Infact at several camps my dd attended that was the prefered way. For...

    No corners

I appreciate the responses. Just trying to get out of tunnel vision mode. Its frustrating to walk batters for sure, but still gotta keep the ball in the yard also. Going to try more change of speed approach and a little catcher adjustment and see how it goes. I think the batters are getting too...

    No corners

This is no a mental issue at all. I am wondering what is the best approach to pitch calling when corners are not called in a game. I understand a pitcher needs to find the umpires strike zone. Is up down the answer? This is elite ball and if too much ball is left on the plate the outcome will...

Parent files bullying report against Texas high school coach after 91-0 rout

The problem in Texas is the way the districts are set up. 5A for example is the biggest schools with enrollments any where from 2400 to 4500 students. There are not many teams in the low end of enrollment that do well especially in football. I think the school mentioned is a 4A school that has...
