yeah definitely encouraging thing with the new instructor. DD typically has pretty good command even before this small change. im finding she occasionally isn't getting the hips near that 45ish sweet spot and throws a bit across her body with a slight decrease in speed. But it's not too bad...
My DD new pitching instructor wants her to maintain her release stance, hips at about 45 degrees on finish, after release and not square up into defensive stance. Any advantage to this? She had three errors in the circle this weekend which is atypical. Her coaches have expressed they want...
Still working out some kinks in DDs drive mechanics. Looking for a cue or advice to help my DD reinforce taking that anchor of a drive leg through with her on a pitch. Looking at the videos in slo-mo, her bend at waist towards third coincidences with the drive foot digging in hard right around...
At another hurdle that I've been unable to help my DD get past so far. Basically, I've got two different pitchers, the one I see when her and I practice and the one that comes out on game day. In game situations she lacks explosion off the plate and short-steps her stride. Gets away with it...
Thanks JS. Now that we know the blow through is happening we'll work on firming up that front side even harder. I teased her about having a concrete shoe on her drive foot.
Really happy on how this drill is starting to work that lean out towards third. Less bend in waist and hind end...
Ok. Tonight's was second attempt at two-step drill. First time, a few days ago, without pitchers plate = gym step. Oops. Did some dry runs today without the ball for about 30-min. The last dozen or so were pretty similar to this video. Most of the pitches had a carry through step after...
Last night we were able to get some work in on the stride board as recommended. The lean towards third does appear to be less pronounced. We'll keep incorporating in practice for a while. One downside is that it resulted in a shortening in stride. Overlapping sequences were off a bit with...
Comfort and good peripheral vision. If it doesn't provide those they are less apt to use them.
Sweet sun shield on the mask above. DD sport glasses always fogging up. Nice alternative.
So with working on the stride board should that done full pitching motion or just lock it in through 3/4s? If it's full motion just trying to figure out the drive foot slide to center and striking to propel forward?
Wow this thread exploded with some great feedback. Won't be able to digest this all till tonight since my DD has team practice shortly.
1. We haven't used brush point cues at ear and hip since she started 2yrs ago. We do try and work on brush contact going into release every time we...
Yeah might be something there on that. Just drew a line in Ubersense and the ball is a few inches to the right at 12 but comes back into plane around 10.
We're also working on Palm up with a more pronounced lead with the elbow. Slow motion in Ubersense doesn't show Palm behind the ball though. Luckily she never took that with her previous HE pitching instruction.
