Any thoughts on bat waggle/pre-swing rhythm? My DD likes it because it helps her stay relaxed and she hits well with it. Her private hitting coach is fine with it, but the high school hitting coach is not. What are the pros and cons that you've seen with this?

Has her HS coach ever watched MLB or is he of the mind that softball players cannot swing like baseball players?

You will be hard pressed to find a good hitter without some pre-pitch rhythm. It comes in many forms - bat waggle being just one of them.

The way she just "rocks" right in rhythm from the "waggle" to being loaded and ready to swing is just perfect in that video. There might be elements of her swing to work on, but this isn't one of them.

Has she asked the coach what his problem with it is? Does he believe it's actually affecting her performance somehow?

There is some kind of paradox where many coaches spend lots of time with the best players trying to help them, When there are numerous other players who could really use some coaching.

(Edit: I assumed she is probly one of the best hitters on that team if the team has a coach trying to coach out a "waggle". Is she one of the top hitters?)

Unless you have a team full of good players and you're just trying to help your best make it to the next level, this approach is just baffling.

I spend so much of my time trying to get the bottom of the roster to a level of competence that I, unfortunately, don't get a chance to spend much time making my best players even better.
