My daughter is fortunate enough to receive several invites for unofficial visits. She is not in a hurry to commit and has a handful of schools she wants to visit. We heard this week that after August coaches will no be allowed to participate in unofficial visits/campus tours. Coaches will only be able to interact with recruits before their junior year at camps. No tours, sporting events, etc are ullowed unless all campers attend. Now we are feeling some pressure to get these visits in before August. I do not disagree that some changes need to be made regarding early recruiting. Has anyone else heard of this new rule?

This is before JR year and is part of a proposal being voted on. I am hearing that it will not be passed. However, seems most believe new recruiting calendar will be passed and will change some things.
I believe you can find proposals on NFCA site.

It is an effort to curb early recruiting. If the NCAA wanted to slow down the process, they should do away with "committing" and just allow a NLI to be signed at any age/grade. If the school was on the hook for a seventh graders scholarship no matter what, they would slow down the early recruiting game.
