Absolutely agree with Sparky Guy. Only thing I would add is I would tell the girls its going to be hard, but I’m not putting them back on the right side. If they are able to switch back and forth you have less development and and quicker frustration when they fail a time or three. I started...
Bats are on the list based on manufacturers guidelines. You will never see old bats on the list as the manufacturer can’t profit from them or,
“Bat models listed herein are placed on the list by the manufacturer because the manufacturer believes them to be appropriate to the collegiate...
The old rule of thumb for size (stopped coached over 5 years ago) was the measure from finger tips to center of chest. Then weight is what the individual DD could handle with the intent of moving them to a drop 10. Don‘t move up inches or oz too fast.
Actually most service providers do not keep the content of text messages, only date, time, and number. Too many text messages out there and too much cost to keep content saved.
If a coach is not working his/her catchers to take over calling games they are doing a disservice to the catchers. if the catcher is half way decent at it, she’ll be 2x better than the coach. Better view of the batter set up, better view of the delivered pitch (doesn’t ask “where was that”...
If 1st base is not occupied due to a mental mistake (covering another place and not on the base) then it is a base hit. It is the same as a bunt where 2nd base covered 2nd and not first and there is no play anywhere, it is a hit. Technically there will be an E4T from the batter from 1st to...
You play college ball for 4 years but use your degree for 40. DD has enjoyed her college run, but understands this was her first “real job” where she was being paid (in tuition money, no NCAA violations) to perform. I will enjoy watching her this last year, but I am much more excited about her...
DD has called them behind the plate As well as call them for the other catcher on off cycle. It Happens. If they are taught from a young age the coach will be happy with the input, unless you’re in the power 5 conference.
Full rides are rare. Don’t believe it’s going to occur. You play 4 years in order to get your degree, know why you’re there. Everyone gets homesick and slightly burnt out... every season. Just be there for her.
priority registration is a great perk. Know what it is and have DD fully use it...
Just say as coaches we teach.... of course I’m a catchers dad and this still bothers me.

For me it was if the ball moved prior to contact with the bat, soft toss through live pitch, helmet on. If it is a stationary ball, tee work, it was optional. Didn’t say this rule to the girls, so had a lot of girls wearing when doing tee work.
