    achieving better spin

Starsnuffer- To begin, at least we agree that the fastball becomes increasingly ineffective as pitchers get older and secondly, I would need to plead ignorance to an IR or wrist flip fastball causing the upper arm to leave the socket briefly and causes more speed on snap; (???). Your belief...

    achieving better spin

Starsnuffer, You mention in the above post " beginners practicing corkscrew spin". I possibly spend more time helping students unlearn "corkscrew" spin than I do any other one thing I teach. To a softball pitcher, the corkscrew spin habit is like having a "PLAGUE". The " spinner" and a lined...

    The most efictive pitcher

Hal, Is that why you wear those Superman glasses?

    Ty Stofflet

Hal, I would like to think that I'm not hiding in my anonymous posts; but avoiding self-promotion. If you are actually interested in knowing my identity, it is very close to being fully revealed in one of my posts and I am not a legend. I actually live reasonably close to you and even though I...

    Ty Stofflet

Hal, I don't think what I said carried any weight with you at all (my teammates were there playing against Eddie around 1975 ) or you wouldn't have posed such a question. Eddie was primarily a showman most of his career. His statistics are mostly meaningless based on the kind of competition he...

    Ty Stofflet

I had the privilege of pitching against Ty Stofflet in the "70's" and saw him up close numerous times and I thought he was the best, primarily because of his statistics, such as life time wins at the ASA Nationals where he was light years ahead of all of us in total wins. Regarding Eddie...

    Palm up at 9 oclock?

Just my opinion if anybody cares- The palm facing 3rd base at 3:00 is a neutral position that facilitates the spins for all of the pitches. If you are already under the ball at 3:00 on the rise ball, it reduces some of the rotational potential.

    Bruised Elbow Picture Thoughts ?

MR. Potts, The key here is to learn how to effectively brush the hip/ not to get the arm further from the hip necessarily. In looking at the pictures it looks like from the bruise position that the elbow bone is making the main contact with the hip instead of the fleshy upper inside of the...

    Sling shot pitch?

Hal, Did you ever see Harvey Sterkel or Herb Dudley, who both used the slingshot style and are in the ASA Hall of Fame, pitch? Both incredible pitchers who brushed their hips as they delivered the ball. I personally witnessed Harvey Sterkel in the finals of the 1967 Open National Tournament...

    Pre-motions; The 'Fireman's Ladder'

Mr. Bishop, I guess I do get quite reactionary, etc. more than I often realize and perhaps I need to be more constructive; but a question I would ask ( that I often ask my students ) is what makes what we're saying about pitching "right". I ask my students to study pitchers like : Osterman and...

    Pre-motions; The 'Fireman's Ladder'

I agree with SP 96 Big Time!!!! Please address the question I again ask- why do the best in the world not bother to demonstrate your so called inventions??

    Pre-motions; The 'Fireman's Ladder'

Mr.Skinner, This type of teaching (different wind-ups,sneaky pitching, etc.) is not demonstrated by the best pitchers in the world. This is "gimmickry" that the best in the world have never sensed the need to resort to (sic ). Please stop the mockery of the game!

They ought to tar and feather him!

Sparky, I hope you agree with what Mr.Krause just said above - that a key qualification to coach is to continue to grow. If I have come across as all knowing- I apologize and I'm not 70. I will not be until next month! LOL

They ought to tar and feather him!

Again, Hal, hopefully I can be kind in what I'm continuing to say about your video promo! I've never felt that to be an excellent pitching coach, that you had to even have that much, if any, experience as a competitive pitcher and I've seen Hall of Fame pitchers who can't teach a lick. Your...
