The obvious solution here is to find a pitcher who likes starting and throwing to exactly one batter. Then your DD can come in "in relief" for the second batter of the game and go the rest of the way.

was only meant to be a joke RAD. But, there are several things that can make the first 2 innings the worst for any pitcher. In no particular order: getting used the ball for the game, getting used to the ground conditions, getting used to the umpire's zone, and good old fashioned nerves.interesting Mr. B
