For some reason this thread reminded me of this old "listen Linda" video of a kid haggling with mom over cupcakes...lo and behold...he throws in
"honey" towards the end.
( i did not know that at all)
Haaha kids pay attention!

I think DD would have perfered me to call her honey then stone hands.

I encouraged her to put it on back of her jersey, she wanted nothing to do with it. She had little sense of humor in regards to SB.

We have this fantastic player on our 16U National team named Linda, which I thought was a really cool old school (my HS days) name which I haven't heard in years! The other girls were relentless with her after this video came out, it was hilarious at the time but I'm sure it got old for her!

Perhaps its not anger or resentment that occurs.
Maybe its an uncomfortable thing?

Comfort? I get uncomfortable when a team of teen girls from the suburbs warms up to nothing but rap music for 90 minutes before the game. Or if someone walks around the field in an Oregon Ducks anything, should I speak up everytime someone does something that makes me uncomfortable?

I'm sure its not the intent of these girls to make everyone uncomfortable dancing around to songs that refer to them as "hos" with "waps" just as it is not the intent of the coach who called some young lady "honey" to make her uncomfortable. And anyone walking around in Oregon ducks anything is just a douche so saying anything to them would be a waste of time.

You wouldn't happen to be an Ayn Rand fan would you?

Good read MikeP, nice to see a person take a thoughtful approach to the topic.

Little story,
Years ago had a job where i was the only Female Foreman for an international steel distributor.
A trucker walked into our warehouse and spit chew in the middle of our floor. Walked up and said to me
"Little darlin' got a delivery who's the foreman?"
I responded "thats me"
He said "darlin dont joke around i've got important business here."

I said, well after we get that slip and fall injury off our floor i'll get that order in the que to be offloaded. There are two ahead of you."
He said darlin i aint waiting and i aint moving my rig what now....
And i said
"Either you move your rig
Or little darlin' here will move it for you" and i winked ;)
( trying to keep it light not irritated by the littl darlin part, but he just spit on my clean floor)
He got irritated cuz he couldnt be first ...
Then he said
Well i'd like to see that....
So....
I climbed into the cab of his semi and grinded a few gears while i moved it out of the way.

At some point in our lives hopefully we find being respectful the better choice!
Hopefully, one story like that hasn't tainted your whole world.

into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
Step out of line, the man come and take you away"

"We better stop
Children, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down"
