Cause sometimes you don't hit the bottom 3rd of the ball.

My point is, I think the best MLB players and softball players like Sierra Romero and Lauren Chamberlain are not thinking get on plane early. Get behind the ball. And this thinking is evident in their swings. The way they attack the ball is different than the TTB mindset. Their path cuts through the ball and the barrel doesn't follow the balls exit path.
Post game swings of Romero an Chambelain. They may be flatter than some but I don’t think they are “down through” at contact.

The best batters MLB and Softball batters are literally thinking about nothing at the plate other than making solid contact. Thats it in regards to their swing. Quiet minds win. Athletic movements prefer quiet minds. The more your mind is occupied the more it takes from your physical abilities

Now what they'll tell you They're doing in an interview is a crap shoot at best

It is clear that players like Romero and Chamberlain have an intent to swing down to create backspin. That is what they say they do. It looks to me like what they actually do.

No kidding, I am talking about in their preparation. As they work out their swings, they have an intent.

I'm the wrong person to talk to about all that. I teach instinctual hitting, throwing, catching, fielding..... I dont want my players to get bogged down because fhey will

I will say that I'm 30+ years of coaching I've never heard any player in BB or SB mention the stuff I hear on this site or any other internet site. I've worked with some very good players.

We all want to hit the better part of the bottom of the ball, but its tough to do. No one is doing it conscientiously or on purpose. It just happens that way

Ok I think I understand. I am pretty good at hitting backspin grounders to my kid just to mess with her so I do understand the feeling you are talking about (cracks me up when the ball almost stops when it hits the ground....bad Dad 🤣). That said I don’t know if actually swinging like that in fastpitch/baseball is the best idea because of what I said before.
