All the interaction and conversation is great. Were going to hit today and I'm thinking of doing the drill out of a 45.

Even if we are not exactly doing it correctly, I see a benefit to the drill. She's letting the ball get deeper and she's getting a more compressed swing if that makes sense. Trying to pound the ball will really payoff down the line. IMO.

Everyone putting in their thoughts and ideas is what's making this post fun. Please keep it up

Can you explain the actions that are required to let the ball get deeper in your opinion? What does the body have to do for this to happen?

When Haley started with me, she was a dead pull hitter. She would sit on the plate and catch everything out front on her front foot.

The goal of bouncing the ball on the plate, totally changes what and how she times and swings the bat.

Her actions are to let the ball travel deeper in her hitting zone and start by chopping down on the ball working her way to TTB for low line drives.

I know this question is Directed at Mike, I would say it depends on how you view the swing. For me personally, I believe you need be able to get you body into a leveraged position at launch with the bb and lower half fired, but keeping the hands behind the corner. Done by using the back muscles. If your hands are not behind the corner at launch then they are going get through the zone early and have to catch everything out in front. All this is just my opinion. Hopefully that makes sense.

Edit: Also Timing needs to be developed. Your timing is going to be influence on how you leverage your body.

Okay, I believe I understand the deeper comment now. It was in reference to her past swings.

The thing that caught my attention was that you stated you wanted her to try the drill from a 45 position. I see this as an attempt to allow the ball to get even deeper compared to where her typical contact point is now.

What actions are you wanting to implement into her swing that she isn’t currently doing or do I have the wrong idea wrt starting in the 45 position?

To hit it on the plate she chops down on the ball , like the picture of Barry. As she bounces the ball further out she uses her TTB swing behind the corner.

What are we referring to when we say "compressing the ball" and what does the Bonds drill have to do with it?

I guess I am having a hard time understanding the benefit of letting the ball get deep?
