As soon as my 8 YO DD started facing live pitching she went from a regular stride to a bit of a leg kick. Not
sure why she did it but she did and she has spent the whole summer trying to figure out the proper timing with it.
I have been pretty patient with it, and she has hit decent even with the struggles, although I would have rather she just stayed with her regular stride. Kids..
That's impressive for an 8yr old to be able to control that. What cue did/have you given her in regards to her stride? Just letting it happen naturally? I have one hitter that just left to college that has a JD leg kick. Her college coach told her to learn it. So we integrated stork drills into her lessons last few months before she goes off to college. In the beginning I had to remind her quite a bit to keep the weight back until she was ready to swing. Eventually she learned control . I personally don't like it. She hits ok with it. Neither better nor worse. She is a good athlete . Better than she realizes.
