Many top-level programs recruit (and offer) 8th graders on a regular basis. This practice is trickling down to the mid-majors as well. My youngest daughter (2020) has two full ride offers already from mid-level D1 programs, before ever playing a high school game. With D1 Lacrosse recently changing their policy to contact only after the first day of Junior year, the time is coming for softball too.
