A common occurrence when instructing pitchers to learn I/R
is that they get "elbow bend" and "palm up at 9:00" drilled into them so much,
that they start to very rigidly maintain these positions, and the whole idea of "fast and loose" and "arm whip" are lost.
Just need to be careful not to coach the athleticism out of the kid,
while working toward these ideals.
Applies to most aspects of the game. Not just pitching.
WELL ON HER WAY! For a 10-year-old, I love her drive mechanics! She'll get more explosive with time. And, she's well on her way to really feeling the power of an arm-whip. That will improve with time as well. Great foundation for her age!
Can't make it to Indiana, but look forward to when they get down near Ga. Thanks for the comments. We have been at it for 3 years. Luckily we never went down the hello elbow route, in spite of her never looking like the other pitchers. We just stayed steady working. Very thankful to this online community.
She is missing right and low now that her posture has improved. This isn't representative of it ,but it was the only video I shot today. http://youtu.be/pEEVScS2KZ0
