From this pic, I can't say your dd has DBSF. Why? Angles! If that barrel is aligned with her shoulder angle, then she has demonstrated a good trait for handling many pitches. The problem would have to be diagnosed before the point of this pic. If you have a video posted of this swing somewhere else here, and others have seen that then disregard this post.

Here is a video of the rear view swing the picture came from. The second video is a side view of a different swing from the same night.

I worked with her last night trying to implement Eric's suggestion of telling her to use her hands to turn the barrel and attackbthe ball from above. Maybe a little better but honestly I am not sure.

her swing needs a little Fixin but she is the most fashionable hitter I have ever seen :)

The first rule of DBSF club is you must immediately ditch any hope that it can be remedied overnight*. The DBSF thread is more of a support group for frustrated dads who have been battling this for a long time. We hold out hope for a cure of course but in the meantime we just do our best to keep trying.

*statement not valid in larger Portland or St Louis metropolitan areas.

Her choice of outfits always cracks me up too. As long as she keeps asking me to hit I will look past the fashion choices unless she breaks out a Red Sox jersey :D

In my opinion, Bautista is doing multiple things in the first clip. First of all, he is working the handle in order to get the barrel on plane with the pitch. He is also maintaining certain pressures on the handle (loading) so that launch can occur in the direction of the ball. Launching a loaded barrel. The front view may be a little misleading because it is difficult to see how his hands are moving in space. The front view seems to highlight the downward movement and does not emphasize any other movement. (Keep in mind that Bautista has a higher initial hand set than many other hitters, and therefore must move them down a bit)

The side view gives a better angle in my opinion, although it is small.

In some ways bat drag is an overblown version of one aspect of Bautista's swing at the expense of everything else. The hitter has essentially figured out a way to get on plane as early as possible, but by losing the majority of the structure in the wrists and forearms. All they can do now is fling the barrel in the direction of the ball. Fix how the hands and wrists work the handle and bat drag will go away.

I am watching it on a different computer and in the quote you cited. Can you not see it? Weird. Please let me know and I'll try something else. I think it does take a little time to load.
